I can't believe it's taken me so long to start blogging my fall sessions! Fall is traditionally a family photographer's busiest season, so I expect not to be able to share many images until after the holidays--but this year, January turned out to be just as busy, thanks to many new--brand new--newborn clients. Since all of my recent sessions have been indoors, it's fun to look back at warmer days, and this sun-filled session from October is sure to make you long for an end to all this snow (as if you weren't longing for that already).ย This is was my second year photographing this gorgeous family in Prospect Park, and this year, we explored a new playground made entirely of recycled wood (including trees felled by Hurricane Sandy). Here are just a few of my many faves from their session.
Baby C | 7 Days New {Brooklyn Baby Photographer}
I know I've neglected my blog lately, but I have a pretty good excuse. I've been working on something for a while now... 9 months to be exact. This little guy was born on July 25th. It wasn't an easy pregnancy, and I had to turn down some great jobs because of it, but I'm happy to report that he is making up for all of the nausea, exhaustion, and pain by being the sweetest, easiest baby in the world. So easy that I've started booking and blogging again! Stay tuned for some fresh images this fall.
One thing I was reminded of while working on my son's newborn pics: what a difference a week makes. These images were captured when he just 1 week old. I did another session when he was over 2 weeks, and the images had a completely different feel. (He was wide awake and squirming the whole time.) That's not to say you can't capture some great images at that point, but if you want sleepy, squishy newborn shots, it really has to be done in the first 10-12 days. They're only this little for such a brief period of time--I already miss those earliest days.
Anyway, check out what I made!
M and Family | NYC {New York City Family Photographer}
To every parent's eyes, their child is "the cutest kid in the world"--and of course, parents should feel that way about their children. But then you meet a baby like M, and you realize your own child has some serious competition for that title. On a crisp fall day, I headed to Manhattan to photograph this beautiful 8-month baby boy and his parents. We started out in the family's apartment, then moved to a nearby park, and finally rounded out the session with a few pictures of M in his Halloween costume. As you'll see, little M is not only adorable, he's also very stylish. Here are some of my favorite images from this session!
